I Turn One Read-Aloud Into A Full Week of Meaningful Literacy Instruction
For Elementary Teachers who want literacy instruction that feels clear, connected and joyful.
A Brand Built on Story
Before Tales of Patty Pepper became a literacy brand, story was already shaping how I moved through the world.
While I was still a classroom teacher, I was selected from thousands of candidates to travel around the world with ABC News chief meteorologist Ginger Zee for Mickey’s Worldwide Birthday Bash. In one unforgettable week, we visited Disney parks across multiple countries and filmed along the way, bringing story, joy, and imagination to a global audience.
That experience stretched my confidence and sharpened my voice. It also deepened something I had already known for years: stories create connection, wonder, and belonging. That belief still sits at the center of everything I create now, from read-aloud pathways and literacy tools to the Patty Pepper story world itself.
You’re in The Right Place If…
Your literacy block has good pieces but doesn’t feel connected yet.
You want your students reading, writing, and thinking deeply – not just getting through the week.
You’re done piecing together a new plan every single month.
Here’s How I Can Help
One Picture book. One Week of Lessons. Every Month.
The Story Garden Club gives Grades 3–5 teachers a complete, tiered mentor text unit every month. Open it Monday. Teach it all week. Reach every reader in the room. No Sunday night planning from scratch.
What you get, every month
One carefully selected picture book that sparks curiosity and rich discussion.
A complete, tiered unit built around that book: mini-lessons, guided-reading scripts, comprehension questions, vocabulary activities, and writing prompts — all scaffolded for three ability levels.
Assessment tools and progress tracking suggestions so you can monitor growth without extra prep.
Differentiated extension activities for small groups and independent work, plus cross-curricular connectors to social studies, science, and art.
Ready-to-print student pages and teacher-ready slides for seamless delivery in person or online.
Join The Story Garden Club and cultivate a classroom where rich texts, intentional scaffolds, and joyful learning grow together , every month, one picture book at a time.
After years in the classroom, coaching, and curriculum work, I know how often teachers are asked to make meaningful instruction happen with limited time and little margin.
I’m Patrice Renée Jenkins, founder of Patty Pepper Education Resources, LLC and creator of Tales of Patty Pepper. I’m a children’s book author, elementary literacy specialist, curriculum developer, and content creator who turns strong texts into classroom-ready instruction.
My work is rooted in joyful, structured literacy for upper elementary classrooms. I create read-aloud pathways, planning tools, and professional learning that bring clarity to the literacy block and make strong instruction easier to carry from whole group to small group.
